Asus ZenFone 2 to Launch in North America on May 18th

The ZenFone series was first introduced to the public at CES 2014 but never made it to US shores. But Asus plans to market Zenfone 2 in the US and Canada will soon be realized. Asus has officially announced that Asus Zenfone 2 will be released in the US on May 18.

Asus has formally started sending out invites for a ZenFone 2 North American launch event which takes place in New York City on May 18th," Android Authority reports. "Incredible comes to New York," the invitation reads. It is signed by Asus CEO Jonney Shih.

The ZenFone 2 is more than just a mid-range device, it's a high-end flagship-like offering at a mid-range price. However, Asus hasn’t yet clarified which models will be sold in North America, so for now we’ll give key specs on all of the models.

Starting with the ZenFone 2 ZE500CL, this one has a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, a 5-inch display with resolution of 1280 x 720, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD to 64GB. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper, and a 2500 mAh battery (See the ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE500CL Full Phone Specification).
The next variant is the ZenFone 2 ZE550ML. This one is a dual SIM handset with a 1.8GHz quad-core processor, a larger 5.5-inch display with 1280 x 720 resolution, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage, expandable to 64GB. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a 5-megapixel front-facing unit, and a 3000 mAh battery.

Finally there’s the ZenFone 2 ZE551ML, which itself comes in two options. The 2GB variant has a 1.8GHz quad-core processor while the 4GB variant has a 2.3GHz quad-core CPU. It has a 5.5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, and 16, 32 or 64GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD to 64GB. This dual SIM phone has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and 3000 mAh battery (See the ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE551ML Full Phone Specification).
