It gives me a problem... The computer seems to be unable to send the file so my zenfone waits till it says timeout after waiting for like 5minutes for the sideload file.. And the computer totally hangs...
I'm unsure what the problem is.. Is it that I renamed the zip file?problem with drivers? Or what...
I've really messed up my OS... So I need help guys. Any help will be appreciated..

  13. ADB 1.0.32 or newer needed also.

I install ADB from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979 said Y/Y/N (don't know if it effects).

Copy OPEN.CMD to the same folder as Firmware.zip

execute OPEN.CMD. type "adb version" to make sure it's 1.0.32

then "adb devices" if it shows only one device (ASUS Gesture shows 1 more device, so i uninstalled ASUS suit).

then "adb sideload Firmware.zip" and it start working (Percentage loading on cmd window)

  15. Did not work for me
    For those who need help...
Download the original Rom from the Asus website. Make sure it's the real one for your phone.. Either Z00A or Z008...
The firmware is named for example UL-WW.2.20.49.63...
DOWNLOAD THE ONE MEANT FOR YOUR PHONE
Then rename it on your computer as MOFD_SDUPDATE.
    after that...
Remove your external storage from phone...
Copy the file into the memory card. Make sure you copy it to the root folder. then put back the memory card into your phone...
    Start the phone into recovery...
    When you do that...
The phone will update on its own and will flash the whole OS and put everything back to normal.. That is including... Even recovery and will remove root...
Will also take care of boot loop
And you will lose no personal data

    7. Hey first of all thanks for your help as ADB wouldnt work (couldnt recognize device) and it seems like this method is the closest I've got to working, however it says signature verification failed and then aborts SD installation. Do you have any advice?

I took screenshots of the system I was running before anything happened and I'm pretty sure I downloaded the correct firmware for my phone...

  16. The first page you see when you open your memory card...or any storage device...
The one with everything in it...
For example. Immediately you plug in the memory card... A window pops up on your PC... Showing what you want to do with your storage device...when you click open device folders... The first page that shows up is the root folder

    1. U don't install the file using cmd... That's like using sideload...
Leave cmd alone... Just put the file in your memory card... In the root folder .. Then turn on your phone to recovery... It will do the rest
Just make sure it's named MOFD_SDUPDATE

  20. hi alfred.. when i enter recovery mode, there is no option to update from sd card among the list of options. will the phone automatically go to sd card and install the update file?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes. It's automatic. There moment you enter recovery... It first searches for files in SD then brings up the recovery list... So if it finds a
File... It updated instead of bringing the recovery list

  21. thanks alfred. it worked as you said. i was able to flash/install the update. i found out that the filename must be in all caps, including the .ZIP extension.

BUT after the update, my zenfone 2 rebooted and still stuck on the circular zencover menu. now im thinking hardware problem.. for some reason, the unit think there is a cover on it.

  25. Ivan, you need to redirect your directory to the adb folder.(Easier way, Left Shift +right click on the adb folder and open the cmd there.) After this run the sideload.
