Preparation Tools
  • Fastboot.img from 2.21.40.29 Firmware (Download HERE)
  • RootZenFoneKitKatV3 (Download HERE)
  • ADB Fastboot Tool If you don't have it (Download HERE)
  • Intel USB Driver (Download HERE)
Steps Root Zenfone 6 Firmware V2.21.40.39
  1. Install Intel USB Driver in your PC/Laptop, if it has been ignore it.
  2. Enable usb debugging (Tutorial HERE),  if it has been ignore it.
  3. Enter Droidboot / Fastboot mode (turn off your Zenfone and then press Power + Volume up)
  4. Connect your Zenfone to Computer / PC
  5. Open ADB Folder, Shift+Right Click > Open Command Here
  6. Type: fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img 
  7. Wait Until Finish and Reboot
  8. Extract RootZenFone6KitKatv3-ww.zip file (English description), which has downloaded previously
  9. Run Root-ZenFone.bat
  10. Wait Until completion (Zenfone will reboot several times, wait a little longer)
  11. Run EnterShell.bat, will pop up cmd then type "su" and press enter
  12. See ZenFone 6, it will be notice
  13. Done, your ZenFone 6 has Rooted.

      you must copy paste Fastboot.img before last update to folder adb fastboot tool

    Thanks... its works for me, but some of the instruction maybe different with the above. After completed step no. 7, i turn off my phone because if i still in droidboot, its nothing happen in command prompt or in my ASUS. After that, its can run auto until the process finish.

    FAILED (command write failed (Invalid argument))
    finished. total time: 0.001s
    sending 'update' (883 KB)...

    I do all of your instructions, but my device doesn't turn on...
    It restarts several times and then turns off! (my device is zenfone6)

    My zenfone 6 doesn't enter recovery mode, droid mode & etc. even it doesn't boot up android. My device is displaying a usb logo for a second when i press power button and then immediately turns off again. when I press power button + volum Up, asus logo and "powered by android" appear and after a while it turns off!!
    Have I lost my device completely??
    Please help me!
