OTA Update Procedure for Asus Zenfone 5 & 6

 ※NOTICE:
  • Only apply to same SKU update, Ex: WW->WW, CN->CN, TW->TW.*
  • Software update cannot transfer the software SKU and downgrade the software version.
  • Wrong SKU may cause update failure, please update the same SKU version only.

Download OTA ZIP file from ASUS Support http://www.asus.com/support/
Ex: UL-ASUS_T00G-WW-2014.2.20.838687-user.zip
UL-[DEVICE]-[SKU]-[VERSION]-[BUILDTYPE].zip
A500: ASUS_T00F, 2X2:Intel® Atom™ Multi-Core Z2580 Processor 2.0GHz
A501: ASUS_T00J, 2X2:Intel® Atom™ Multi-Core Z2560 Processor 1.6GHz
A600: ASUS_T00G, 2X2:Intel® Atom™ Multi-Core Z2580 Processor 2.0GHz
  • Connect the phone on PC by USB cable, please unzip file and put the OTA zip file into your phone’s root directory of internal storage. (The current software version doesn’t support to the SD card update.)

  • Remove USB cable from phone, you will see a notification and press it


  • Please connect power adapter or ensure that the battery life is at least 15% when you see the "System upgrade available" message, and then press OK button.


  • And then the system will run the updating process automatically. If you see the below message pops out, it means system update successfully.


  • How to know the device model? 
    Please swipe down the screen top side will see the Quick settings.

    3. Model Number


  • How to know the device software version?
    Please swipe down the screen top side will see the Quick settings.

    2. About
    3. Model Number
    4. Build Number

      Don't Unzip that file. Just copy it into Internal Storage then unplug USB cable

    this kind of trick didn't working.i did all the method but the update didn't show up after i remove the usb cable.

    now my firmware is V2.19.40.6 but to update V2 19.40.18 it must make sure update software version V1.18.40.10 first before update to software version V2.19.40.18....so how to downgrade it ?

    after update to kitkat ,i cant access mobile data , when i try to set APN, it show " unfortunately system has off" so what to do now ??

      To fix the APN issue, you must install a different SIM card temporarily that doesn't cause the APN settings page crash. I tried one from Lebara and swapped back to my original SIM card when in the APN settings page (that opened after I had changed the SIM card). So, basically, just find a SIM card that doesn't cause the crash and then switch back while with the APN Settings page open. Worked like a charm and I'm back online on 3G

    for asus zenfone 5 there is two type asus a501cg and a500cg. Try read above.
    A500CG build number is t00F. you can download from asus support. the file after extract is called UL-ASUS_T00F-WW-1.18.40.10-user.zip

    A501CG build number is T00J. same file with A500CG file. but i think you need to change UL-ASUS_T00F-WW-1.18.40.10-user.zip to UL-ASUS_T00J-WW-1.18.40.10-user.zip to make it work

    Nb :From web asus it said ASUS ZenFone 5(T00F/T00J) software Image: V1.18.40.10
    T00F/T00J

    Just my opinion. use at your own risk :)

    first see ur model number then see whether u are WW user or TW user in Build number then download the file accordingly.. WW user file is of 700mb and TW user file is of 693mb. Enjoy!

    Bro... i have zenfone 5 t00f... build no- ASUS_T00f_TW_user_2.22.40.54_20150527_44 release keys

    I have downloaded UL_ASUS_T00F_TW_3_23_40_52 from asus official site.. I Did all the method.. U wrote in this post.. But i cant find anything in notification bar.. I restarted it many times but nothing happened.. How can i upgrade my OS to Lollipop. Please Help me. Thank you

    If u do not get notification, do on system update notification in ur phone setting. U will get the notification..

    try using adb sideload... maybe it could help...
